The Cumnock Tryst is a classical music festival that takes place in autumn each year and brings together some of the world’s greatest musicians. Founded in 2014 by celebrated British composer Sir James MacMillan, the festival has developed to include a year long calendar of events, launched in 2019, and a range of innovative collaborations which have continued despite the global pandemic.
The Corner Shop PR Scotland have been working with The Cumnock Tryst since its inception, cementing the festival as a can’t-miss-date in the annual cultural calendar.
As an example, in 2018 the media campaign for The Cumnock Tryst achieved 161 pieces of online coverage in publications such as BBC Classical Music Magazine, The Times, AOL, BT.com, The Scotsman, The Herald, 22 print coverage articles in The Herald, The Times, The Observer and the i, among others and 5 broadcast hits, including BBC Radio Scotland shows such as The Afternoon Show, Good Morning Scotland, Classics Unwrapped as well as Channel 4 News.
Key highlights included two 5* reviews in The Observer and in The Herald and a 4* review in The Scotsman. The review by Fiona Maddox for the Observer was particularly impactful with ‘all-star Scots’ included in the headline.
